The World Health Organization (WHO) announces an outbreak of the Zika virus. Zika virus (ZIKV) is a member of the virus family Flaviviridae. Zika fever or Zika virus often causes no or only mild symptoms. To date, there is no specific treatment available for the disease, but paracetamol and rest may help with the symptoms. It is spread by daytime-active Aedes mosquitoes.
